there is a multitude of them out there. what have you had good & accurate success with ? acid vs electronic ?

my friendly neighborhood jeweler who tested mine for non gratis, is retiring and sold his equipment, so now I need to do my own, any insight would be much appreciated.

I bought a mizar 18 electronic tester (Tests up to 18k) this summer and have been very happy with it. It has a little well, you drop two different solutions in it, put this alligator clip on your item and dunk it in the well. Its not messy and seems to be very accurate (I tested every gold piece I had and all except 1 were identified exactly as they were marked).

I bought one off Ebay a while back and am happy with it. It came with the acids for 10-22 kt, silver and pt. I very happy with it for the little I paid, Mike.
