Gettin cold here, and I don't want to give up on the water. I am looking for advice on what to look for in a wet suit. What do I need? What do you use? What works? Etc.

I want to use it in the surf and in calm water alike chest deep and maybe a little more.

Thank you in advance for any advice,
Anthony

For starters try: Wet suit 3-5ml at least, Dive boots, seal skinz socks, gloves, ski hat (fleece or water resistant).

I had found one like brand new on ebay last year for $40.00 6mil farmer bottom and shorty top when use together 12mil I stay nice and toasty.

When I was still diving, I preferred a three piece suit. Jacket, pants, and sleeveless top with attached hood. This gave you a couple of options depending on the weather. In even moderate weather and/or rain, once your head/neck starts losing heat, you are COLD! I spent more time wearing just the pants and sleeveless/hooded top than I ever spent using the entire ensemble. Arms stay warm longer than you would expect.

I've found that you may need different suits depending on the seasons. A two piece 6 mm. farmer john outfit can be used in colder water while a shorty 3 mm. is nice during the summer. Hoods are optional but not booties. You should really get to try them on at a dive shop too.

i use a combination of farmer john wetsuit and neopreme waders. wetsuit is 5mm waders are 7mm

warm water & chily air farmer john top

warm air & water above 60 farmer john bottoms & booties

cool air and water above 60 farmer john bottoms, top & booties

cold air and cold water farmer john bottoms & booties, then 7 mm waders, then long necked hood, then farmer john top, then 5 mm dive gloves.
have hunted in a snow storm with this setup and stayed toasty warm!
