So, I am new here. I have been reading for a while and decided I might as well join the party. It is nice to see that other people are just as obsessed as I am.
I am fairly new to the sport, my love for silver began my CRH'ing career a couple months ago. As the hours have passed it didn't take long for me to start wondering if I could improve my tactics. First I thought about using some type of metal detector to speed up the process.....

But that pretty much shot down that idea. Although, I still think it could be possible, just not as plausible as I once thought.
So, to get to the point..... Here is my idea.... tell me what you think.
I was thinking I could buy a scale that would measure the total weight of one roll of half dollars. I think each half dollar is around 11.34 grams. So, just take that and multiply by 20 and you will have an approximate weight of each roll. A 90% half dollar weighs about 12.5 grams and a 40% is about 11.5 grams. So, if the weight came out heavier I could assume that some type of silver could be found within that roll. That would save a fairly decent amount of time right? No opening rolls, no rolling, or coin machine dumping.
Is this worth experimenting with or am I wasting my time? Has anyone ever tried this?
Thanks!
