The Plantation Dig Update

Ladies and Gentleman,

I am currently reformatting the Plantation dig Post, I will order the current finds chronologically, and update as we find more. The Plantation (which is a conglomerate of multiple plantations and their sub-facilites) Is fitting of a new thread for all our finds, outside of the today's finds section. There are to many finds and stories to be told. I have copied my previous post for all interested parties/persons. The thread will be moved to a new category that I see fitting.

So keep an eye out and keep on digging, we will be digging this plantation/s for the next 20 years

- Model T Hub Caps, full set
-Hand carved 1830's-1850's marble (sphere/ball; game)
-Metal Livestock items for Horse, Cattle, Mule, & Pig
-Iron Picks, axes, hammers and shovels
-Percussion Caps from 19th century
-NUMEROUS glass and ceramic items: Bottles, plates, dishes, latrine pots, vials, etc., etc.
-iron cookware
-1890's Sterling Silver Spoon made in England
-Mid 19th Century Picture frame holder (brass or copper)
-Wood Barrel Parts, Rings, & tops
-Iron nails, stakes, door knobs, coat hangers, door and window latches
-Iron Carpenter tools, Iron chains
-Iv'e forgot the rest, I'll have to look in the archives.

There is so much stuff we dig everything without even looking at the meter. No coins so far, but we have only just begun.
And the Funny thing is we've only detected the Place 6 times the first three times only uncovered the Brass door and the spoon , and we are the first, many non-metallic items were found from digging privy style.
Our detectors have probably covered less than one acre of the virgin ground, we dig so much and so sporadically we can't even keep a grid sweep pattern. We've only just begun to dig about 4 sites out of 100's.

We will be digging for the next 20 Years, many undiscovered sites await on the Plantation.

Forgot to mention the very large, whole intact Sugar Kettle sunken in the mud of dried out a pond. It will be removed this Winter with a Bobcat Excavator.

KONO , sounds like you are finding interesting relics on every hunt. How deep are your finds and how do you rate your metal detector?

Hello Turbo 504, welcome to the Forum!

Most finds are around 18 inches down, in the wet, root filled mess of the Louisiana "Jungle." The Ace 350 does provide some false positives, due to the shear number of relics. However, Every coin or round shaped highly conductive metal has made the detector scream.
