Old Auto Printer's Plate, Brown Brothers Cigar Token, and a little Scrap Silver
Hit an area close to my house that has been supplying me with a crazy amount of scrap copper, lead, and brass. I would say I've dug at least 10-15
pounds of lead, and at least that amount in copper and brass.
Last two times that I've been there, even got some scrap silver. Part of an exposed 1890's trash/burn pit, most of the stuff comes out
pretty toasted, but it's close by, near bathroom facilities, and I'm never bothered by people.
The printer's plate is a big one, can't figure out the make and model of the vehicle. Model T variant?
The token I'm very happy with. After digging a horribly corroded, and unidentifiable round brass disc, and one third of a decomposing aluminum
token, this Brown Brothers, Detroit token popped out.
Richards Token Database shows several varieties, but can't seem to pinpoint a date.
The sterling spoon handle weighing in at 14 grams will be proudly displayed, tossed in the scrap pile, and then eventually shipped off for melting.
I came back to this post and added a cool little item that I found in my pouch. Thought it was just a piece of brass, turns out to be a "Put and Take",
gaming piece! After long and tedious researching, I now knowing more than any normal human needs to know about Put and Takes, except that mine has some form of advertising that I haven't seen on any other examples. Being a bartender, and collector of bar tokens, I'm loving this bar-related gaming piece.
