Found this yesterday at one of the local farms.

The inscription on the back says "Kentucky's Best Echo Spring, S. Grabfelder & Co. Inc. Distillery, Louisville KY"

This article says that this is an "Echo Spring" watch fob, designed & made by the S. Grabfelder & Co distillers of Louisville, Kentucky and predates the Prohibition era. Sam Grabfelder did not move his whiskey shop to Louisville until 1893, and Prohibition closed him down in 1919, hence the dates for this collectible fob. Grabfelder had such items made as handouts for his favorite customers. A newer one is shown:

Then I took it to work and had one of the machinists grit-blast it for me:

I'm gonna coat it in something to preserve it. It's already on eBay, if anyone's interested.

Oh, and I also happened to find a 1944 wheat penny and a fragment of a pretty big crotal bell, one that would have originally been like the size of a baseball 8-)
