Went to the usual spot where I always go because its very close to home....learning the Deus better every time I use it!!! The best find in a long time is the solid silver wax seal!!! Can anyone ID the lion?? I believe it may be British because it was about 75 yards from where I found the 2 Regiment of Foot buttons. Also....I am proud to join the club with VMIdigger and I got a PN button!!! Most of the pics are from the hunt this morning.....I slowed wayyyy down with the Deus and put the discrimination up to 40...HUGE difference!! Only bad part is that the wax seal rang in at 85/86.......same as every other soda can in the universe!!! Hope you guys enjoy the pics and I can't wait to get back out...Let me know if you guys can ID the coat of arms on the wax seal8-) IMG_20160406_111052.jpg IMG_20160406_182007.jpg IMG_20160406_182025.jpg IMG_20160406_182032.jpg IMG_20160406_182040.jpg IMG_20160406_182146.jpg IMG_20160406_182338.jpg IMG_20160406_182404.jpg IMG_20160406_182602.jpg IMG_20160406_181943.jpg IMG_20160406_181912.jpg IMG_20160406_111103.jpg IMG_20160406_181722.jpg IMG_20160406_181743.jpg IMG_20160406_181753.jpg IMG_20160406_181805.jpg IMG_20160406_181829.jpg IMG_20160406_181851.jpg IMG_20160406_181859.jpg IMG_20160406_184229.jpg

What a super hunt. Not a clue on the seal, but I'm sure someone will be along to help. Congratulations on a great hunt.

Good going on the silver wax seal....believe the lion is a Birmingham silver makers mark not sure if you can tie it down to a specific person or family because it may very well be a generic seal.

Awesome finds LC! That seal is very interesting! Those PN buttons are still a mystery right?

Congrats again on the silver wax seal Josh- hopefully a bit of research may turn up a family crest or origin. The dreaded PN button still drives me nuts, but is in great shape for a dug pewter. Hopefully someone will reclassify it as I doubt these are "Spanish colonial" as was dubbed years ago.

The Lion is just the silver purity/standard mark. Anchor is Birmingham Assayers.

This is another circa 1750-1825 example similar to one found on a French Site. I still think English, & if the Lion is present, then I am correct in my assumption.

What type of site did it come from?

The lion was a generic 'Coat of arms' & is unlikely to be narrowed down any further. Unless the house site has a connection to an English family that incorporated the Lion in the family during the 1750-1825 period.

Excellent finds-especially the seal and PN button. I have also found one of those buttons in the Lowcountry & wish that the "experts" could sort out their origin. There is an archaeologist who believes that they were uniform buttons in the French-Indian War; but who knows?
