Subfreezing temps today prompted me to detect under my dining room floor. Back in the 1800s it was used to dump plates, bottles, jars, crockery, utensils, etc. through a trap door in the floor. It has been several years since I have ventured down into the 3 foot crawlspace where I collected many bottles, jars, and the like. Took my pin pointer down with me this time. Managed to find a Lightning rubber disk beer bottle closure pat. June 5, 1877 still in the top of the broken beer bottle, parts of 2 ( Collins + Leader) oil lanterns circa 1800s, a straight razor, a skeleton key, a wooden handled fork, a fruit/Mason jar glass lid with patent dates from 1856-1868, an ornate piece of glass, what may be part of an old ice skate, etc. Have also included 2 pics of the bottles I found under the floor several years ago. 1.webp2.webp3.webp4.webp5.webp6.webp7.webp8.webp9.webp10.webp11.webp13.webp14.webp15.webpIMG_6040.webp19.webp20.webp

Wow. That is really neat, to find such things under the house.

Hmmmm.....your own private bad weather honey hole!! Gotta get me one of those........... but don't believe the wife will be in favor of ripping out the concrete floor where the coal bin used to be in our basement..............

I'm jealous, so jealous - :laughing7:

I would make good use of my job as a tunnel rat for that.......

Got to be some coins down there!

Sweet spot to find some goods and maybe to hide some of your own!

I tried detecting beneath my dining room floor years ago. All i found was the neighbors in the downstairs apartment. :tongue3:

I can see why you you enjoy looking for relics in old trash piles. Heck you live atop one. I think those relics in the crawl space are speaking to you on a subconscious level. You certainly pulled some nice glass from under the floor. :occasion14:

take all of it out, then when you are frozen in you can glue everything back together!

Holy shirt! That is cool that would be something my entire family would do, we would all fight to go first!
What year was your house built?

That is a cool place you live in! Congratualtions on the nice finds!

My house was built in the very early 1800s. There is a cellar under the front of the house. The crawl space under the dining room floor is just behind that. It is a very constricted area which literally can just be 'crawled' around in. It is loaded with broken glass, bottles, crockery, etc. I also believe that there has to be some old coins down there somewhere. I definitely seem to be somewhat addicted to relic hunting. Guess it runs in my deer hunter blood. lol13245417_10201537754403894_4281719696180655988_n (2).webp
