Went out for a short farm hunt recently and was pleased to find this Canada Militia button.
Despite the Irish back mark of P.Tait.Limerick I couldn’t find much more info about this button.
After searching I found the same button on an online auction site.
This description is from Marway militaria;
N.W.M.P., Royal North West Mounted Police, Canadian Militia, ARTILLERY Component Button. Brass , Victorian Crown over 3 Cannons, facing to left, with words CANADA MILITIA on the sides, 22.00mm size. The Artillery component of the NWMP, wore these buttons on the march west in 1874. Also of course the Artillery Branch of the Canadian Militia of the time wore them.

God save the Queen!

That baby is a spectacular find! I’d love to see a pic of the back as well.

The writing on the back is barely legible
