Hello everyone. Back on April 27th I posted about this button:

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/todays-finds/293421-interesting-button.html

Okay everyone. I think I have solved it.

I believe that the button comes from the Trinity School, of Cocowinity, during the post Civil War era. The button dates from the 1870’s to 1880's and the school reopened in 1879. Chocowinity is 10 miles from where I found it. Grimesland is on the same side of the river, and only 6 miles from, Chocowinity.

History of the School:

Trinity School in Chocowinity, North Carolina - StoppingPoints.com

The below link references John Bryan Grimes, son of Maj Gen Bryan Grimes, as having attended the school:

http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/pit...rimes76gbs.txt

This link mentions that MGen Grimes was active with the Trinity Church. The church owned the School:

Trinity Church History

I do have an email in to the current Reverent to see if he has any records of button purchases, however I beleive the button came from this school due to its proximity.

Here is the button again. Pretty cool I think.

Nice detective work there Papa Bear, congrats it's a really good artifact from your area.
Me, I would have guessed Tom Sawyer.

Thanks ZDD. I am very confident about the school connection. Either way, it is a great button to have and enjoy. PB

Very nice Job on the Button and the Research.
I am thinking you might have a match on that one.
That School has some great History.
Thank you
Happy Hunting
