I found this bone while walking along a creek in Missouri. I'm curious to know what bone it is and what type of animal it came from. I assume it's a leg bone because it has a socket but it seems like a awful big socket for such a short bone. It looks old but not ancient. Any ideas?
Any chance this is chert? Maybe a broken point? It looks like it has been worked on one side, but it feels very lightweight. It's hard to see in the pics, but one edge appears to be serrated. Found in a creek in northwest Florida.

I went to a Forest Preserve Creek trying to see what it's like to look for arrowheads in IL. I found nothing that resembles what I thought I might find, but I did find this curiously symmetrical piece. Anything important or just a geological anomaly? Thanks!
