today, i was out thrift store hunting for silver, but after looking through one of the thrift stores i found no silver. however, i found something i wanted to purchase. so as i was getting rang up, i spied a 1964D rosie in one of those locked donation boxes at the cash register. i asked the employee if i could buy it, and she called the manager and the manager was super nice, and very interested about what it was. i explained to her, that older coins will usually have the mintmark on the back, and i collected ones that had the MM on back, and thats why i wanted it :laughing9: i got my change from the purchase ($0.31/only money i had on me after purchase) and dropped it in the container to make up for the money i had "withdrawn". she was grateful i added extra. i just wanted to share this little story with you all!!! Keep it up and hh! [R.I.P. Rich Hartford]

PS i think its very rude when people stick foreign coins, or tokens, or crap coins in those donation boxes, it just rude. i saw a good handful of those in there, and thought to myself that that was very rude of someone to do that.

I fight for silver WHENEVER I see it. I'll put as much pressure as I can get away with while still being cordial.

Nice quick thinking CC! Veteran at work...taking notes I am (yoda voice).

great score. Good looking out!

I too collect coins for my "collection "-- I tell folks that I "collect" coins all the time which is true I do -- I find , buy ,sell and trade coins as well for my collection * now the fact that their silver coins is my lil secert* :icon_thumright:

the charity would only get a 10 cent credit for that silver dime at the bank * you uppped it to 31 cents -- so you gave 3 times as much as the bank would have credited for it --all you had at the time --so no harm , no foul. :icon_thumright:

I traded out a 1915 wheat cent one for one with a zinc cent in the pick a penny , leave a penny dish

I would have done the exact same thing. Good sharp eye. HH Doug

thank you all for your encouragement!!! and Gilmore Happy, im honored that you would call me a veteran! thank you very much!!! that just made my month!!!!!! :icon_thumleft: keep it up and hh! [R.I.P. Rich Hartford]
