03/06/06 Roll Hunting Finds

I traveled out of town to visit an antique mall and stop at banks along the way. I got a little bit of everything today. I purchased $30 in pennies, $20 in nickels, and $900 halves. All in all, I had a great day

46D - Found it in the tellers change at the bank when depositing my coins from last week.

Good finds for the day! Ill piggyback my finds on your topic if thats ok. I went to the bank during lunch today, first bank had 3 dollars in halves....and 4 of those were silver!!! Second bank had 0 halves, as did Walmarts bank, and the last bank had 40$. I took 30 of it and found 2 more silver halves. Total is:

1959 - 1 A franklin!!! The teller looked at it funny as she gave it to me. I think she considered holding on to it.
1966 - 1
1967 - 3
1968D - 1

Wow, not bad on that Franklin! It's amazing that tellers don't know to look for silver in their loose change, especially when they only had 6 and 4 were silver. Very nice odds there! You should try to get every half from every bank you visit. You never know when a roll could be all silver, and that could be the roll they leave in the vault and don't give you.

Yeah I know the creed "Never leave a half unbought" but I ran out of cash. I have no local bank around here. Im thinking of just getting a Bank of America account to have more nationwide access, or at least around here. Ill be going back tomorrow to get that roll hopefully!
