I hit my spot for about an hour and pulled up this 1/10th 12k Gold Filled eyeglass stem. So that means this stem is 1/10th gold. That's quit a bit of gold, I’ll take that.

I know it's too cold for some of you to hunt so I posted a birth of a ring (I wish it was gold). I hope you guys and girls like it. The ring turned out to be size 8, it has some kind of arrow for a hallmark.

Gold Filled- refers to a metal item that has a thin sheet of gold applied to a base metal core but the layer is thicker than in plated items. The layer of gold in gold-filled items is about one hundred times thicker than gold-plated items. Newer items contain markings that indicate how much and what type of gold was used in the layer. A marking of 1/20 12K G.F. means that the piece is at least 1/20th 12K gold by weight. In gold-filled products, the gold layer must be at least 1/20th (5%) of the overall product, by weight. Any purity of gold may be used; most gold-filled products are made with 12k or 14k gold. The purity of gold used can be determined by the notation in front of the words gold-filled. 14/20 Gold-filled and 14k Gold-filled both refer to a gold-filled product in which 14k gold has been bonded to the base metal core. Likewise, 12/20 Gold-filled and 12k Gold-filled indicate that 12k gold has been bonded to metal. will mean the same thing in general.

Looks like some ruff ground there Ant, Good job getting through it to the goodies...
I guess, with the price of gold the way it is, anything with gold is a keeper.
Nice looking little pick too,
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Very nice pictures! I love those old eye glass frames. I have a whole pair of glasses lenses and all that I just liked because they were old. Then I saw that they were 12kt gold. I am hanging onto them as well.

Congrats on your finds!

HH,
Moon
