Couple firsts for me today, a multiple silver day and first buffalo nickel. This was a vacant lot next to an old church, hunted it before and found all new except for one war nickel. I found the hot spot today and got 3 wheaties, another war nickel, a 1937 buffalo (corroded, full date, has 4 legs) and a 1964 dime from an area roughly 15 yards square. I have to count this as a multiple-silver day, even though one of them is a war nickel; it might be the closest I get for awhile! I found dozens of early 1960ish pennies as well, down about 6 inches, some were stacked on top of each other and still shiny where they were touching. So there was significant activity here during the 1940's thru early 1960s it appears. Gotta believe there are more silver dimes here, maybe hiding just out of range of my Bounty Hunter. . .

They look good to me. Congrats on your silver!

nice haul, run that 202 at full sens low disc... MR TUFF

Thanks Mr. Tuff!

I normally run full sensitivity, but also discriminate very high. If I get a beep that is halfway repeatable, I dial down discrimination to almost nothing and evaluate the signal at that point. In my experience, signal bouncing all over the place (both depth and type of coin) is always trash. Constant depth reading with coin reading bouncing is usually worth digging. With sensitivity on high, old copper pennies often read as quarters. Silver dimes can read as anything dime and up. Nickels seldom read as nickels, but usually as a coin at constant depth. On this last hunt, once I realized I was in a hot spot, I did in fact turn the discrimination down to zero and hunted that way for the duration.

Sounds like you have experience with this model, what other advantages do you see by hunting with low discrimination? We can take this to another section of the forums if that is the correct thing to do, any advice is greatly appreciated!
