I sent in some silver & gold to ARA last week and they are sending my silver back stating they are not currently processing any silver scrap. What the heck? Who's buying that you know of?

Last week I took some silver in and sold it to a local buyer. However, they had signs posted that they had no silver to sell. The explanation was that their supplier would buy back the silver they ordered for a profit before they shipped out the order.

It seems that some are still buying up here, and some are only wanting gold.

As I write this the sterling calculator is @ $3.25 a gram

On .925 they're paying between $2.59-2.71 a gram(Depending on quantity)

I've dealt with this refinery years ago, though I'm looking at others as the spread for silver is getting too high. .925 they're @ $2.44 a gram

You must be speaking about alloyed silver.
For...
Everyone is buying silver... there are millions of buyers gobbling it up.

But... some refiners are not taking alloyed (below 999) though because of the alloyed silver refining backlogs.
I am sure if you posted you could have it gone in less than a half an hour.
Not to mention walking into any local shops.

Pep... i am surprised you don't have some local buyer that pays decent as to support your local.
Not so much about every cent when it comes to supporting local.
Quicker anyway.

I could make a living buying local, and selling elsewhere.
I pay more than the local buyers, so that ends support the local.

Gold $4,547.30 + 50.40
Silver $81.62 + 1.97
Imagine gold at $5,000 and silver at $100.
Would you buy or sell?

Adjusted for inflation silver can still double in price and just about touch its all time peak 46 years ago. I'd hold out for $140-$160 silver, and this is assuming we don't see a speculative melt up even higher than that.

Local Estate Sale dealers are still buying, paying roughly 70-75%.

I work hard to accumulate my silver, therefore I'm not giving it away to any gold/silver buyer. ARA Gold pays 90% of spot when they are taking it in. So I guess I'll hold it as it keeps going up.

Holding is correct...
One day... you might be able to get 98% on 925.

Silver went over 91 last night, I wish I could say it makes me sleep well at night, but it’s too fun to watch!

Now why would I want to just Give my silver away to a local buyer?
