I have a coin of the Emperor Tiberius ... with this coin could buy two sparrows in the very moment the discipleship Christ :icon_study: .... Emperor Tiberius shown in the coin has the ultimate responsibility the Crucifixion and was made in the mint of Tarraco over 2000 years ago ... these first Roman coins made in here.
Also another great coin of the Emperor Antoninus Pius with wolf standing right, suckling twins on the back 138-161 AD ... this coin has a very good green patina that makes it special :icon_thumleft: ... and was found in the surface soil near a road where farm tractors daily pass .
other Roman coins of later centuries show that this Roman villa was inhabited for 600 years. :o
Also things Spanish finds , Roman pottery, glass ... etc.... all in approximately two hours of hunt .

Hispan .:hello:

Cru'dad has been studying your rare coin & has the following comments:

'Cannot find Hispan’s Tiberius coin in RIC and I do not have the RPC books where I think it may be listed! With CVT it is the TARRACO mint but unusually the Reverse seems to have text running in opposite directions. I can clearly see running Clockwise the letters GERMANICVS from top to bottom (in right area of rev picture as viewing) and then running Anti-clockwise [D]RVSVS from centre to bottom (in left of rev picture as viewing). So these are the sons of Tiberius being shown as confronted heads – namely Germanicus and Drusus are pictured. Very unusual coin in my view and thus it may possibly be extremely rare in that condition. I think an expert may need to see it. Either way a fantastic find in my book.'

Simply amazing stuff. Pulling history out of the ground like that is truly a blessing.

Simply amazing! Sometimes I wish I lived there just to get those early finds.

are first Roman coins ... you know, are the same people who made Iberic pre Roman coins ... art and manufacturing were very rudimentary....that makes them so interesting .

Has this been made banner yet? If not why not?

Hispano -Romans isn't it?
This is when the romAns started to conquer and the Iberians where minting the coins?

No point showing off my Viking sliver hoard then....... When I find it that is :) and I will find it!!!

I prefer the Ibero-Roman name, because these people were converted to Roman civilization .... the story is very long but I explain:
The coin belongs to the mint of Tarraco as you know was the first city founded by the Romans out of Italy, and the first in the Iberian Peninsula.
Greeks living here, requested military support to fight the against the Carthaginians (the Greeks were cousins of the Romans) then the Romans go quickly with all his troops to Spain to help the Greeks, (this the Historians call the Punic wars) .. the Romans build this great walled city to settle here and to stop the Carthaginian troops ... but mixed with the people they helped undergoing or who were the Iberians and Greeks ... the end result was that all mixed and these coins are an artistic blend of this joint venture.
In fact many of the people who used these coins did not know did not even read what was written on them, for they had other previous alphabet, alphabet Iberico, nor knew who were the emperors were represented ... surely even the person who designed the coin be not completely Roman, for this reason some are written backwards etc .... but the Romans were very ready to accept these rare coins and circulate
sorry for my bad English and for the bedtime story.:tongue3:

Very nice finds:thumbsup:
