What would be best way to clear up the buff to be able to see date I left the dirt on it this time and didn't rub it. Heck I thought it was a regular nickel until I got home

Try a couple of wooden toothpicks to remove the dirt around the date on the Buffalo Nickel. If there is a date , you can try letting in souak in olive oil for a few hours and then continue cleaning with a toothpick.
Congrats on a good hunt. I like the marbles. Might be one or two that I have lost over the years,, lol
