1" round disc w/ star and 3 tacks - for what?

I thought they were fixed to it but one of the tacks is loose.
One inch in diameter.
(The other object is a first communion pin I found in my front yard.)

Looks like it came off a kid's toy gun holster or western style belt.

My 1st impression was it had something to do with Texas because of the star. It's shaped a bit different though.

The image on the item on the left looks like an upside down lady in a long dress. Flip it over.

Hadn't thought of the toy direction. Interesting idea. You can't tell from the pic but the tacks look like they were meant to be in wood. I'll try to post another pic that shows it at an angle.

On the communion pin looking like a lady: In real life it's actually quite clear--with a magnifying glass--that it's a chalice w/ two different kinds of plants on either side. It's marked on the back "In remembrance of my first communion" or some such.

There was a toy gun called a "Lone Star" ??

Here's a new pic that shows the tacks better. I removed the loose one so it was clearly visible.

Must have attached to wood then rather than leather.

Nice finds!! What kind of metal is the first communion pin made of? Is it silver? I have no clue as to the star, but a pin on a toy sounds like a possibility, maybe a star on a wood toy rifle stock?
