Nice find Fishenfool!

I work for the city, found it in the sewer. Any idea what its worth.

I would guess it is worth around 300 for the gold weight. I collector may pay more but the shape is not so good. I would put it on eBay?

Congrats again!

Make sure it's gold. That looks like the hundreds of aluminum-bronze coins I have. Gold shouldn't tarnish, even in the sewer. It could be real, but check with a dealer to make sure.

If it is real, this was a proof at one time. I don't think I have seen a worse proof before.

it was in a sewer.

and I see no tarnish, just extreme wear and tear.

I see dents, dings, scratches, chipped off parts of coins not in compliance with golds metallic properties (ductility, malleability, even hardness)...... Looks exactly like aluminum would look if it fell down, got chipped up, scratched. I agree 100% with sag on this one.

by the way gold is dropping like lead, so I'd judge it strictly by its numismatic value rather than precious metal content:

I dunno man, I guess we will just see if he has it checked out. maybe its a chuckee cheese token, but....... its only .585 fineness gold, so that makes it around 14karat standards, little over 50%, and I have seen rings get water damage and chlorine stress (and its been in a sewer). this isnt a lake or a beach, its been subject to whatever water purifiers and chemicals are flowing through the sewer along with the filth. it may have just led a real rough life. Im on the fence but swinging for gold.

edit- and it couldve been dragged along the bottom of a sewer current across a lot of concrete too, since I imagine it sat ont he bottom the entire time it was down there....go drag your ring across your entire driveway and see how it ends up afterward

true true, or some science experiment gone wrong? we've all seen the experiments done on half dollars.

it is gold, just beat to hell tumbling thru cocrete pipe

Are you saying its gold yourself? If I were you, at least on how the pictures look, consider taking this to a coin shop or even jewelery shop and they should be able to tell you if it is indeed gold.

Nice coin Fishenfool- once was lost is now found, by you- congrats. HH yelnif
