Went out for a couple of hours today after bringing my son back to school at University of Chicago.
Just a couple of finds aside from 55 cents in modern clad. On the upside, I can return the name tag because I found the owner so that's cool. 8-)

The ring is really small. I'm sure its a kid's ring because the metal is also very thin. Strangely though.. it says "10K" on the inside with some sort of symbol next to it.

Let me know if you can see what the symbol says or what it means. Thanks in advance and thanks for looking!

That symbol looks like a maker's mark. Hard to tell from the photos but that looks like the real deal. Appears you have gold sir. Well done!

UPDATE!
I just got a call from the owner of the name tag (dog tags).
He said he lost this about 2 years ago at the place that I found it on the beach!
I'll be sending it back to him tomorrow... so although its not something that's very valuable.. I will have my first RETURN!
I'm going to have him text me a picture of himself with it when he gets it from me.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice job on the finds, and being able to return the tag.

COngrats on the return.

Could be a P in a circle next to the gold mark. 10K plated?

Could be! Not sure because my eyes aren't as good as they used to be:tongue3: However, the thickness of the metal is quite thin...and as it "looks" like a black hills gold style of ring (like 3 shades of colors) it may be that only the flower is actually gold plate. The ring itself may be aluminum or something. Its a pretty small ring, so I thought it was a cracker jack box ring or something. The middle "stone" was missing when I found it yesterday.

Nice hunt...and congrats on the return of the dog tags.:occasion14:

Nice hunt there and very nice of you to return that you never know how much something may mean to someone so Honorable mention for taking the time and effort to return the tag. Good post

Don’t count that ring out, could be gold, photos look good! I’ve got a couple rings that are 10K-P meaning plumb gold so tested to be at least 10K purity, although none of the Ps we’re in a circle which is normally tied with a maker! Either way, there’s a better than average chance I think of that ring being gold!

Nice finds and a return. That's awesome. Congrats!
