Got out in the mangroves yesterday for 3 hours. I found 2 notes in bottles. this will bring my total to 11 this year. I posted some of them back in june when I first joined the site. Since then ive found 5-6 more with 2 coming yesterday. One of the bottles from yester day has money in it , wich is pretty common. Most of the time the money is for postage. I have opened about half so far. The ones I could answer I have. Some were to faded to read and one I have to return to the sea as per the owners request. They wanted me to write somthing poetic and return it to sea. I wanted to post some pics as I will have to break a few of them to get the notes out. So here they are !!! photo-266.webp

First one with the dollar in it was dropped off at fort Jefferson dry Tortugas. Its pretty faded but there is an address from sugarloaf key. On the other side is a hand drawn map of fort Jefferson. This note actually floated right by there house on its way to key largo. I could hand deliver this one.photo-269.webp

Cool... up here money grows on trees!

Bottle number 2, I had to break open !!! That was kinda fun. Anyway this one was real professional with laminated notes. Drop coordinates were 26 07 N 088 04 W wich is miami / Lauderdale area. that means it traveled in an eddy current back to key largo. Ill have to double check those numbers on a chart. Ill let you guys read the rest. Looks like this one gets mailed to new Zealand. !!!photo-274.webp

Cool 2 copys 1 for me to keep and 1 to mail back. Been in the mangroves 15-16 years. Who knows could have been at sea too. But no barnacles so prob not. Bottle number 1004. Geeez thats a lot of bottles. !!! Probably the gulf of mexico not miami makes much more since. Just looked up the MV stolt sun 22,000 deadweight tons, 163 meter chemical tanker, still in service in aulstrailian waters right now. Bottle was dropped in the middle of the gulf of mexico according to charts.

Great post. Thanks for sharing

I'll open another one and post it tomorrow. I still have 6 or 8 to open. It could be like the 12 days of Christmas !! Hey ...l wonder if I could earn a honorable mention by mailing all the notes back to there senders.

Note number 3 is a little ate up but I can still read it. It was dropped at sand key lighthouse key west fl on dec 4 2005 at 200 pm est. The weather was sunny, the air temp was 78 ,the water temp was 76, and the wind speed 15-20 out of the north east. It was part of an ocean current project. There was a hand written note on one side in english , spanish, and french. The other side is a printed form for the finder to fill out, and also contains the drop info. The senders name was harrison and there is an address in keywest to send it to. They promise to write back if I send the info to them.photo-278.webp

Bottles numbers 4 and 5. Bottle 4 had a brochure from a charter business that goes to fort Jefferson. There was a note with it but it fell to dust as I tried to open it. photo-289.webp
Note 5. it was dropped on june 15th 2009 by a girl named Kayla. It only has a phone number. I'll try it tomorrow and see if I get an answer.it had a dime in the bottle with the note. Im assuming for the phone call. It was written on the back of a hotel room receipt from drop anchor hotel in Islamorada. So thats probably where it got launched.photo-288.webp
Heres a shot of the dime. No it aint silver !! Its a correded 1994. Lol.

So I got 3 to mail, 1 to call, and 1 unreadable. 2 were launched from fort Jefferson, 1 from key west, and one from Islamorada. And ive got one dollar and ten cents in treasure so far.

Dang! I've been trying for years to get Kayla's phone #.... Lucky

Sweet post. Now this is treasure! Cool stuff. Can I find stuff like that in snow drifts. Ugh. Jgas

Allright here is bottle number 6. It is a drift bottle experiment from 2006.it has a lot to say so ill let you guys read it. I had to break the bottle to get it out. It was double wrapped for sun protection.photo-296.webp
I feel like im contributing to science im starting to mail some off tonight. This one is the most detailed by far. Here it is for everyone to read. photo-297.webp this guy has all kinds of stories of notes in bottles. He says there is a book about a 12 million dollar note found in a bottle.he claims there is a reward for this bottle READ THIS NOTE IN FULL ITS A GOOD ONE. I am gonna check the guniess book of world records to see who has found the most notes in bottles. I once found 23 in a single year. I also found 7 in one day once.
