I went digging to a good friends state, lots of roman settlements an was very excited, but the first day I could only find one roman coin, and another one from the 1700's. Well not a bad day, but I suspected that the area had been heavily hunted before...without a doubt.

then the second day during the first half of the day I found a Felipe IV maravedi, and at the last hour 15 coins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and my first SILVER, a half real from Felipe V 1726.

Well everything great up to now, I then washed the coins and most of them were completelu rusted out, many you cannot see nothing. It was because the all year round wet area, and I guess the quality of the coins themselves.

Any way a great hunting, extremely excitin because they were all together along with a pretty cufflink and a button.

Nice looking silver. The other coins in the pics don't look to bad either....Matt

That when I washed the coins there was nothing to look at...

A good day for sure :icon_thumleft: Sometimes Bronze coins can deteriate very quickly when dug, I have seen this happen with Roman coins right in front of my eyes :-\

Yes I really like this one, I'm even thinking of having a new pair made just like it. It's beautiful a I don't think anybody will have a similar one...hehe

A good start!
The coins are not bad, most of them are re printed Maravedis 17th century, these coins only the value and date. They also lack cleaning but the coins are good, and mean Reale too.
I know that you are not hunt in my area and not found the Ardies, they are a pest here. :laughing7:

Hispan:

What do you mean that they need more cleaning?I only put water and a tooth brush through them. Do you think I should keep cleaning them?

Most of them as soon as you brush them the green stuff on top went away with the water.

Thanks and good luck

The "Resellos de Felipe IV"shows need to be cleaned which is hard to appreciate the details that were printed, the value, date and other things.
Although it appears that the fertilizers have been toasted a little, can be rescued ..... these coins I like in my area but did not find many.
In fact these were the last Hamer was hammered in Europe. all are made with a hammer and some are very beautiful and interesting, none of these coins is the same, for this reason they are so appreciated.
Greetings! :hello:

You can come to the USA and dig modern coins that don't need any cleaning :tongue3: !!!!!! I would be out detecting every day where you are located. Enjoying the search for coins that are older than the USA, and hunting till all my batteries are DEAD!!!! Those are still pieces of history, and you are the first one to touch them in over several hundred years. Keep researching and detecting your discoveries will improve. Good luck!
