I was detecting in a very old park here in town. I have found an IHC there before, so I was hopeful there were still old coins to be found. Since there are so many pull tabs I often skip shallow nickel signals. I'm lucky I decided to dig this signal though. It was only 2" (basically surface level). Out pops an 1868 Shield nickel! I could not believe it. I've found Vs and a Shield, but I'm still looking for a war nickel and a buff. HH all -Tin Foil

Great find! Thanks for sharing...

Nice find ! some of those shallow drop nickel signals really could be gold rings - I know of the 8 gold rings I've found , most were found in
a nickel range .

Great find. Haven't found a shield yet.

Really nice. Congrats.

As you know Park pirate, there's something special about pulling old coins out of parks.

sweet shield nick!
