Finally got out for a hunt this morning after working the last 7 days . I decided to hunt a school / park that has given up gold and silver over the years . I was hunting close to the black top when I got a +68 , +72 . When I dug down I saw a penny but in the bottom of the plug was GOLD ! This is the first ever gold neck less I have dug up in almost 18 years of hunting :hello2: . As it turned out the penny was lower on the VDI number due to the gold being in the same hole . The gold neck less it's self came up as a +2 . It's a 14K gold rope chain type that weighs 4.84 grams , not bad  . When I got up to move on from that hole I got another +2 at the same depth , 3 inches . It was the end part of the gold neck less  . It was broken into 6 pieces . The other finds were two junk rings #5 and #6 . Total clad for two hours was $10.34 .

Sweet chain.. I see your building up your clad count for our end of the year beer bonanza..

Good score on the gold chain.

Very nice gold find! Congratulations.

Wow! That's a nice chunk of gold right there! This is what the hunt is all about! :treasurechest::notworthy:

Congrats! Sweet gold find!
I have yet to find a gold chain, but from testing, the clasp is what registered on the detector. Yep !
Glad your ground isn't frozen tundra like it is here!

pl8man,

I forgot to mention that finding a gold chain especially fairly light is a bit of a crap shoot....I've managed one ladies gold necklace with a heart pendant that was all coiled up in a clump and came up pretty scratchy and likewise 2 ladies bracelets that were so so signal wise.

You have to be on your game to find them or dig a big whack of iffy targets.

Nice going on the chain, not an easy catch.

Sweet necklace pl8! You better step it up though, your only on target for 115 rings at this pace. Lol

Congrats on the GOLD!!

Awesome detecting!

You have the Minus touch, goldfinger!

congrats on recovering the whole necklace, the last one I found was a fake 14k

I have a feeling this will be a down year on rings . I need to travel further away from home to even find one .

Man I know the feeling. Just finding a place I haven't hunted is pushing me farther away from home every time I go out.

Nice gold chain there ! Nothing like a road trip to put a bit of excitement back into your detecting .

Eureka!!!! Gold has been eluding me lately.........pull tabs and can slaw suck. Good job.
