Congrats. One thing you want to do though, if you haven’t already, is to check the necklace with a gold tester. There is
unfortunately a lot of non gold with fake marks.

Heck yeah! That ought to push the scale a few grams. My local thift stores have gotten real good at spotting the gold and now when it's available, it's priced at spot price and above. Still there's many other things to hunt and I always look for that element of surprise, where a piece of .585 gets mistaken for a piece of gold plated .925 or something marked with foreign hallmarks and not 10K 14K 18K

You're lucky it priced at that. One of my local "thrift" stores starts gold at 4x spot. They have a ladies omega watch with the world's tiniest face for 1500 and refuse to mark it down. It's been there for at least 6 months, if not longer.
