Good hunt on the river this evening . Got back to where I found some seated a few weeks ago. First good find was the early style button followed by what your going to have to take my word is a 169? William III farthing. It looked better when first recovered. Also dug some musketballs, 1880 IHP, another toasted copper(colonial too I think). Silver for the night was an 1853 Seated Dime:hello2:

Nope, I've seen similar from circa WWI.

Well that may be but Ive seen multiple sources(including Bill Dancy’s excellent book) that put these in the 1600s too. The only ones Ive found came from sites with 1600s coins

Looking at that picture, those do look different from the single bent over shanks from the early 20th C that I was talking about.

We don't get those type here, or at least I haven't had one yet, which suggests they may not be British??
