1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling

Does this coin look legitimate? Seller claims its the Large planchet Noe 1 Pine Tree Shilling.
Hes asking $250. Its a local seller claiming he needs money for Christmas.
I'm trying to get better pics of front and back.
I don't know much about these coins, other than I know I would never dig one where I live, and that some of the varieties can be quite rare.
Please advise.

I got a couple additional photos. Not sure if these will help or not. Seems like he used a bit too much flash and didn't get them centered. Does appear to have the same cloth backdrop

Pictures are not great, but from what I can see I don't like it. It looks to be a cast replica, but I suppose better pictures might show it differently. Noe 1 is also the most copied pine tree shilling.

I do see what kind of looks like a seam below the word NEW, but its hard to tell from the photo, and I am not that familiar with this coin.

The surfaces look to have the typical grainy appearance of a cast copy as well. If genuine it would be worth many multiples of $250.

Thanks Cutler. The grainy appearance could have something to do with the fact that I enlarged and the cropped the image from a larger photo.
I am working on getting some better pics.

You don't even have to really look at the coin to know. If the seller knows enough that it's a large planchet NOE-1... He would also know if it's real he could easily sell it for 1k in the next hour. People who need money tend to want the most they can easily get.

Thanks for responding IP. I guess I was hoping for that rare exception where the seller didn't know what he had, but you are probably right. Some things are just too good to be true.

He could get a whole lot more on the net with a 1 day auction. Price is way too low. AND, there is one EXACTLY like it on Ebay right now. Run away very fast.

That's one of those coins that would have to be graded and slabbed before I touch it!

While it is a better copy than the usually seen souvenir type replicas, it is still a fake. Sorry.

See how all of the details appear jagged and blurry? That is the easiest way to spot a fake (for any coin really). Even on a high grade example, the details will always appear smooth, crisp, and "polished". If you ever see a coin with "blurry" details, that is a very big red flag.

Thanks for responding smokey. I agree price seems way too low. Guess I was just hoping this person didn't know what they had. They even contacted me last night and said if I buy today I could get it for $150. When I woke up today I noticed they sent me more pics.
