today i was glad i did
the spoon has a makers mark
Joseph Dubois
New York, NY 1789-1797
In the firm of J. & T. Dubois 1795-1797.


being it is marked J. dubois it is pre 1795

Awesome! What a fantastic relic!
 

Oh yeah ! Nice find - I would certainly take that spoon to a qualified Silversmith ( not a jeweler) get it put back in form - It is an heirloom find , and worth every penny to restore it ! I also would put it back into daily service .

Nice that ones worth paying to be restored. I had a one in a similar state & age & had it fixed & present it to the land owner.
