1722 Wood's Hibernia, 1773 Virginia Halfpenny, Shoe & Knee Buckles, Cufflinks, etc...

Some finds from a couple sites that I hit a few days ago. Got two nice coppers, including a first year Wood's Hibernia halfpenny with the harp on the left. It was under a rock, so that might have helped with the preservation. Also got a 1773 Virginia Halfpenny which are very uncommon to find up here in New England.

Other finds included a shoe buckle, a knee buckle, some cufflinks, a watch winder, two furniture escutcheons, buttons, an unidentifiable coin, and a lock plate cover. Without including any post-1850 coinage, that makes 50 coppers for the year so far.

I'm new to the game but I've never heard of anyone finding a Virginia halfpenny up here! Those coins are in great condition and I always love the buckles. Nice finds!!!

Those very very old coins are in awesome condition considering their age. I have dug many large cents and a lot of them don't compare with those .

Nice going Dust Eater!

Perhaps Norfolk was that sailor's prior port? Tobacco you know, legal tender in the colonies! Perhaps traded for salt cod?

Best wishes to you and yours!
