Got out yesterday with The Patriot for our second hunt of the year. We had big plans, all the research pointed to the new site we were headed for being full of military buttons. After a couple hours, one musketball and lots of junk we started back to some of our usual spots. On our way to the last spot of the day I mentioned I had yet to find any early French colonial coins, and upon arriving out popped this:

I guess I should talk about what I need to cross off my list more often!
Rest of the days finds:

Wow, a really nice old silver find. Did you ID it yet, I'd like to know what it is.

Now that's how you do it! It took me many years to find a nice higher grade French silver like that. What is the size in mm?

PS... The Patriot was there when I dig mine. ;D I dug one before that, but he was there for the nice one.

Sweet finds for sure. We don't dig many French colonials in our region but a few of my buddies have managed to find one or two.

Nice going!

It's 22mm one way, and 20mm the other, kinda ovaly, lol. The Patriot's getting used to me walking over to him to show him a good find!

Is that a 1/6th Ecu (20 sols) coin?
Great finds!
Don...

12 Sols / 1/10 Ecu.

Nice find Hicks...my first high grade French silver find was what I think may have pushed IP over the edge on a particularly kind weekend for me. ;D

Well after the belt plate and pistareen. :-\

Yours is higher grade compared to the many billon I have found, but his is high grade, one you don't have yet. :laughing7: Famous last words or what.

Was a sweet find there, seen you looking at something in your hands with great care...You just have the luck to walk over good silver for sure.... was very funny talking about it not 20 minutes before... and all I mentioned was lead seals and I pop out 2 of them.... should've mentioned rare belt plates or something along those lines...

That doesn't come close to the day you asked me if I had ever found an arrowhead, to which I replied... not in 10 years of walking fields. Then in the next 15 minutes you had one. Weird stuff.

I wouldn't mind a couple of those lead seals, but I do like that silver! I do seem to get over the exact right spot somehow, it was my first strip through that field!

Sweet find on the silver! :headbang:

Awesome finds Congratulations!!

Nice one !

Pretty sure I got one last year, has funny color similar to the OB of this one, but completely flat, and 25 mm.
