About 1/4 cup of diesel fuel at $3.20 / gallon...............

All kinds of things at the hardware store - just not many of any one thing (they usually sell nails, screws, nuts, bolts & washers by the pound; tubing, wire, rope & chain by the foot...........

I remember when 10 cents would get you a WHOLE candy bar...................

In the 60's you could get 2 full sized candy bars for a dime, or one large bag of chips.

As far as the pretzel sticks, we got them for $0.02/each, you must be ancient :laughing7:

Vibes, are you sure the Green Card is only $0.10 and it's not some other colored card :dontknow: I know there are people here that don't even pay that dime :tongue3:

I remember when candy bars were 10 cents, remember gettin a dime for empty pop bottles too. We'd run all over town stealing pop bottles off back porches then spend it all on candy bars. One time we discovered a bunch of empty bottles in trays stacked behind the liquor store & we stole them, tried to turn em in a couple hours later at the same store. The cranky ol' lady who ran the place wasnt fooled for a minute when 3 kids came in with 72 empty pop bottles & she was missing 6 flats of em. We werent very smart kids. :(

AP, I remember only getting 2 cents for pop bottles. Never had to steal them though, my neighbors were too lazy to return them, so on Saturday's and after church on Sunday's my brother and I would get our Radio Flyer wagons out and go door to door collecting them. We were only 6 years old, hmmmmm, (1956). About 1961, the stores increased the price of those pretzel rods to 2 cents each.........NGE

You got me by 3 years :laughing7: I remember the smaller 12oz bottles were 2 cents and if you got lucky and found the quart sized one you got a whole nickle. In the summer we went out early for bottle hunting so we could buy goodies later that day. Yup I remember those 1961 prices. In school they sold them in kindergarten, along with a pint of milk. When I think of it now, that was a terrible combination.

This is one for "Ripley's Believe It, or Not", there is still 1, yes, count em 1 penny candy store in New Jersey. The only problem is that nothing is a penny :dontknow: The best part about this store is that they have every candy under the sun there like: waxed lips, Angel Fingers, Shoelace Licorice, Tootsie Rolls, Sugar Daddies, Black Cows, Bazooka, those little wax filled test tube thingies :tongue3: and who could forget "dots" :laughing9: Going to that store is a trip down memory lane, but you have to take a second mortgage to buy the candy :laughing7:

For some reason, I thought that Kevin Smith has a piece of this business, as he owns a comic shop in the same town :icon_scratch: But don't quote me on that :laughing7:

Here's a site you can find whatever yer pleasure in candy is.......NGE http://www.acandystore.com/

Thanks, but there is nothing like walking around a real store vs. a virtual online store. That is for folks that don't have access to a great little shop like the one I visit on occasion. The smells alone will drive you crazy.
