Yesterday I hunted a small field on a 750+ acre permission; I had found pipe stem pieces and pottery so I decided to check it out. A quick surface hunt turned up more pottery and pipe stems and a nice small quartz point.
After finding a flat button and some miscellaneous brass targets I hit a faint 80 signal at 8 inches on the ATPro. I was hoping it was a coin and wasn't disappointed as I dug up a King George III half penny. The first three numbers of the date are 177 and I think it's a 1777 but not sure-any ideas? I know they weren't made in that year but it could be a counterfeit.
I also found a very small thimble, a small etched brass piece (any ideas what it is?) and two bit bosses in another field. Fun day in the heat for sure!
