Hi all,

Today started really slow. I struggled to find a new spot. So I did some door knocking and recieved permission to hunt another early 1700's house. Before I started I stood back, looked and imagined if I were there back then were would I have been. I started about 20 yards from the front and worked my way outward. In just a few minutes I found a nice extra rich large button with the shank. A couple more buttons came my way then a 72,74 with a shallow sound and on top of the ground was a 1786 reale. Not to far from that 80, 81ish at 5" and the KG? popped out. The owners were so nice, and stated I was welcome again.

Anyway, I hope everyone had as good a day as I did.

HH,
Don

Irish 1/2 penny. Nice! Hogge

Sweet finds!! :icon_thumright: :headbang: I'd say it's worth going back there

Your George III Hibernia is most likely a 1781 or 82 cast counterfeit.

and COUNTERFEITS ARE AWESOME!

Nice going on the coins! One of my first colonials was an Irish Halfpenny...Most likely one of the cast counterfeits. It was very brittle and barely made it home with me. I hope you have better luck with yours!

One of the buttons that I found is an extra rich gold with the thread still in the shank. Could this be a uniform button?

Thanks,
Don

WOW...never know tell you knock

It is certainly possible. Is the front plain, flat? If so, these were typically manufactured for the civilian market, but could have been sewn on to a uniform as a replacement button.
