Had a great day in NY with Skunemonk hitting an old home site that has produced 1700s and 1800s coins and relics. It's a very large property we've hit several times, but it has been about a year. I was blown away to see this tiny silver staring back at me just a few inches deep. It's only my second Reale and the other is very worn. This one in great shape. Sorry the photo is sideways, I'm still trying to figure out the new iPhone - in other words, hold the phone the other way next time. Also found this cool bottle, buckle and button. Skunemonk had several cool finds including large cent, colonial spoon, pocket knife and large dandy button all yet to be cleaned. Some of his finds pictured too. (By the way, did this coin give mixed signal, not full silver signal because so thin?)

Nice coin Bergie. It's always wonderful to see the silver glint in the hole dug from an 18th century house.
Congrats.

great coin, the cause of the lower signal is the size.. from what I've seen on my machine, they hit slightly above a zincoln (zincoln-60, 1/2 reale-62, wheatie-68)

Yep, very nice. But a flip-side shot would be great too, if you can!

awesome! congrats :hello2:

Very Nice Mexican Carolus llll reale.

It's not too common to dig dig whole ones. The ones I have dug sound a lot like soda tops! :D

Your 1/2 real silver coin is one of the Colonial Milled Coinage series of Spain that circulated freely in the Spanish colonies of the New World. Other denominations were 1 real, 2, 4, and 8 reales. The 8 reales coin were the famed 'pieces of eight' you hear about in early Americana.

sweet! nice hunt right there!

Seems like alot of Spanish silver has been turning up on T-Net from the states lately...Makes me want to hit an old site.

Congrats
