I met up with with Jim and Diane in their neck of the woods to hunt. We started the day trying to contact a farmer that has a farm with a lot of potential. We came to find out we just missed the guy by five minutes. To make matters worse I was late by five minutes, *%@#. The secret weapon was deployed on the fifth try and success, permission granted for a farm, and a field that we had eyed up earlier. Jim and I have a good laugh when watching the secret weapon dazzle the farmers, thanks Diane. We hit the farmhouse grounds and came away with a few keepers nothing notable and moved on to the plowed field. Jim and I headed for the high ground and did not find a thing. I started back towards the road where Diane was hunting. I started seeing pottery and brick laying all over the place and yelled to Jim what was littering the ground. As Jim approached Diane stood up holding something in her hand and yelled large cent, right about then everyone's hair caught on fire, yep it happened. Between the beeps all I could hear was, BUTTON, LARGE CENT, BUTTON... this went on for awhile. All said and done it was a great day for all of us. Sweet... Arty

Those coppers don't look too bad considering both are 1700s. Congrats!

Nice recoveries Art  Sounds like you guys were in the "zone" for a while there!

1796 is one year earlier than any US coin I have found.

I know what you mean by "secret weapon". I have never been denied when I had my cute little sister with me

seems like it's rare to find a site
that's early, but not so early that all the coins are british halfpennies.
