Washington couple collects cans to pay for wedding

Andrea Parrish and Peter Geyer already have more than 18,000 cans in their living room - nearly 5 percent of their goal of collecting 400,000 of the containers.

The Spokesman-Review newspaper says that would be about 5 tons of aluminum, worth about $3,800 when recycled.

18,000 cans in their living room? 5 tons of aluminum? They might have to downgrade the wedding to repair their floor joists. One 12 oz. can displaces approx. 31.25 cu inches. Assuming they have 9 foot ceilings, their living room would need to be more than 72' x 72' with nothing other than neatly stacked cans, 45' x 45' if they are crushed and neatly stacked. :icon_scratch: Did I tell you about the dime I dug at 40" the other day? Or was it 50"? :laughing7:
