1800's Button & Hair Piece? Victorian? I need some help with these please...

I just got back from the same park that I found my Victorian era coin purse last year and this is what I found today. The hair piece, or so it seems to be, was about 8" down. That is all I can think of that it would be. Maybe there were feathers or fabric of some sort in the middle of the front? The back clasp is throwing me for a loop too. I have never seen one like it.

The button(?) was about 3 inches down in the same area. Is it a button? if so, how would it attach and what do you think it's made of? If that's supposed to be a design in the middle, it's pretty crude.
