1800's One Cent Trifecta!
I'm fortunate to have permission to hunt an 1756 home site here in Virginia. I've found multiple 18th and 19th century buttons and buckles, but the only coin prior this last hunt was an 1806 Half Cent. I was again hunting the home site when I got a deep high tone signal that I just knew had to be some type of copper coin. I wasn't disappointed. When I pulled my plug, I immediately saw an 1854 large cent. Before covering the hole, I probed with my pin pointer and pulled out two Eagle Cents (1857 and 1858)! About a half hour later, I found an 1899 Indian Head that looks like it was hit by plow; completing my trifecta! What a great day!
