Hi all,
I found this yesterday June 2nd and here is the story and pics. I was hunting a existing house site that I have done good at before. Well this hunt was made harder do to the fact the lawn wasn't cut in over 3 weeks and the grass was high and thick. Needless to say swinging the coil was difficult and after about 3 hours of fighting the grass and digging not much I decided to go under this maple tree with nothing growing under it. I had already gone under this tree before, but thought I would give it another shot from a differant angle this time. Well not far from the trunk of the tree I got this load signal but was jumping from high tones to mid tones on my Explorer. Well I decided to dig it and the digging was made tough by all the roots that I had to go through. The other problem was my pinpointer was saying dig here and then saying dig over here in the hole. I was a bit confused about that but kept digging. Then I finally got a coin out of the hole which turned out to be a Nickel. Then with a litte more digging out pops this stack of coins all stuck together which was a really cool site to see there was 3 coins stuck together in this pile. After scanning the dirt that came out of the hole there was already 2 more coins already in the dirt pile to make 6 coins total. Well these coins were really corroded so I had no idea I had. I got home and decided to give them all a hot peroxide bath except the V nickel I have not done anything to that coin. The dates are as follows 1896 V Nickel, 1868,1884,1887, 1893 and 1898 Indian Heads. It was a real nice way to finish out a very slow not so good day of digging. Thank you all for looking.
