1810 Spanish 2 Reale - I Now Think Is Actually A 1/2 Reale

Hit the old woods after dinner this evening. Dug lots of shotgun shells in the 18 to 40 range (I use a White's MXT). About my only good target was an iffy penny dime signal that turned out to be this 1810 silver 2 reale. That's the beauty of metal detecting, when your least expecting it, a nice keeper pops up. Actually as of today (June 21) I think I was mistaken in calling it a 2 Reale. The reale is slightly smaller than a dime, so I think it's actually a half reale.

Nice Reale you have there. One could say that I found one as well, but it is totally worn with a Saloon name stamped on it. I researched my find and it was termed a Counterstamped coin. So, "CM Berry Saloon" was stamped over a 2-Reale. What a piece of history that has to be!

I know what you mean about being totally worn. I've dug two 2 reales prior to finding this one, and they're both so worn that you can just about make out what they are. So needless to say, I was real psyched about finding this one in nice condition.
