1812 era British navy button

Almost got a skunked hunt tonight but with crazy work in lucky to have got out. Last minute I dug a couple flat buttons and when I got home I put the lemon juice to it and was surprised to have got another British navy button. Not nice as ricks recent find but worth posting. Thanks for looking! [emoji106]

Middle of the road is a whole lot better than toasted! I know what you mean though, as the Fusiliers button I dug recent is also not beautiful, but far from rotted. That said, save the super condition for the killer rare one!

I didn't bother posting another picture of it but I know what you mean. The second little button I dug in the picture I think may have been one with a anchor but its too far gone now to even know for sure. So I'm grateful the big one turned out decent! [emoji106]

Yours looks like a match for the ones the Patriot and I dug back to back. I'm sort of fired up to go back to try for another.. we weren't getting much else so bailed fast.. not that we don't have patience, but in the next field was a great site and we hadn't been there in years, and several good plowings.

I'm starting to think it wasn't just the tailors fault but the button makers too. I'm finding more and more buttons with the shank gone and that's probably how they got lost and not the thread! Haha
