Todays interesting find is the 1813 Half Stiver from Essequibo & Demerary. Also found was a George 111 1799-1806 and an nice intact sleeve button. The 1813 half stiver was a copper coin issued by the British during their colonial rule in the Essequibo and Demerary regions (now Guyana). It was struck at the Royal Mint in London and was part of a larger coinage designed to replace Dutch currency used in the area. The coin was designed with a laurel head of King George III on the obverse and a crowned denomination within a wreath on the reverse. I have detected over this same area at least 100 times and missed two easy signals. These two coins must have been laughing at me he whole time!

Nice one there Cannonball! Too funny, I found the exact same coin a few years back at a site I had hit many times before. How could I have missed it! Love that sleeve button.

Nice going on the copper and links.
Great looking patina on them all.
Friendly soils for sure.

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

I like the half stiver and the other old coppers you have been finding. I have found an 1838 British Guiana 1 stiver, the only such coin I have found. Not common, I guess.

I guess we learn as we find them!

Nice finds! I like the Half Stiver, we have found both half and full stivers here in Nova Scotia, they circulated up here to some extent
