It's been a tuff summer here for me, once Spring was over it got hot and humid so fast I just didn't get out as much as I would've liked. Then September came and the rain returned. Augh!
But the other day I was heading home from visiting my mother and seen this little back hoe had dug two deep trenches (pic #1) and got really excited! This is an old farm that I've been wanting to ask permission to metal detect. I only first asked to scan the loose dirt that had been dug up. That super nice guy said yeah go ahead! Well I got nothing there. So I asked to come back once the dirt was filled in. And I did, and got nothing!
So then he and I got to talking, the old house (pic #2) was his grandfather's or something that dates back to 1860 but he had built the new house next to it in 1917. (pic #3,see my lovely little drawing, nice apple trees!) So I ran it passed him about detecting the property. Yeah, go ahead, let me know what you find!
It looks like I'll have to break down my pics for the posting though and pic #3 of my map is too large of a file.
Pics #4 - 10 are the finds...
1817 Matron Head LC, 15-Star variety, most of the date is gone.
A little bent semi-key date 1869 Indian Head (G-4), I looked real good but I do not see the 9 over 9 variety. Bummer.
1886 Indian Head Cent, variety 1, the last feather of the headdress points between I and C of AMERICA. Full liberty!
1887, Full liberty!
1888 Indian Head cent full Liberty and has all four diamonds! Even the beads are sharp! Sweeeeet!
1920 Canadian small cent, pretty good condition also.
And a old button and a what's-it with the letter "D" on it. Enjoy the pics!....
