Made it back to the field today where I found the 1737 King George II Copper, the 1877 Seated Liberty Quarter and the 1821 Large Cent. Was there for over 2 hours and only had three good signals. One was a flat button, one was just a small piece of old metal and the other was a strong shallow reading that was bouncing around penny on the VDI. Since I was about 15 feet away from a pile of old bathroom tile that was probably dumped there in the last 30 years, I assumed the target was going to be a memorial penny that was dropped by whoever dumped the tiles. Well, for the third time in four trips, my assumption was wrong and the target turned out to be another old coin - this time an 1817 Large Cent! Cleaning it has produced mixed results - the date is now harder to read (though it's easier to see under a light), but the reserve came out pretty good.

Nice job Bookfisher. That site has been a blessing for you lately. I'm glad you decided to check it again. It might still be hiding a few goodies.

Thank you for posting such a cool find. What a thrill it must be to find such an old coin.

Hey Burdie,

Your quite right about the thrill. That's why we're all so addicted to this hobby! My biggest rush, is what happened three times in this field - when your not expecting an old coin (or any coin for that matter) and you pull the plug and you see that dirt encrusted extremely old coin staring you in the face. That's what keeps drawing us back again and again. I love it! Also, thanks to everybody else for your kind and encouraging words. I appreciate it.

I've been on two hunt's where these LC's have been found.....Unfortunateley they were'nt mine but I'm keeping the faith ;) Right now I couldn't imagine....excellent find BF.....HH to Ya and many more!!
