Original hitching post. 1820 Antebellum home and one of only three war time homes in our State not burnt down and destroyed in the civil war. Some neat finds and great owners. Very nice and they gladly gave us permission to hunt. I even grabbed the chainsaw and help the owner cut some trees!
My friend found a silver buckle with 2 horse heads and the initials H.L. marked 925/1000
Looks to be a suspenders buckle of sorts. Also a large Indian head or spear/axe head. Early to late Archaic 6000 - 5000 B.P. and Lots of iron signals. Friend also found a large bone type material shaped like a weapon. Indians may have made this also.
I found a buck knife by a tree on top of ground in great shape. Also a old token. Eagle no cash value token. May have been used for peep shows or arcade ect. Very worn. Included a new pic of same coin to compare. Found some modern clad of which the oldest was a 1960 penny.
Lots of history yet to be found here and can't wait to go back.

Thanks. Lots of history still to be found there.

I like that silver buckle thing. 8-) Are those Horse heads on the buckle?

Back when I was in High School, we used to carry those buck knives in school and it was OK and we were OK. Times have changed...

Yes. Two horse heads. Also has some teeth not pictured where strap went through and clasped down onto fabrics or strap.

That is a great historic piece of property to search. Try and map your finds if possible. Without a doubt, it was constructed on top of an Indian village which dates back to prehistoric times. What state?

Great finds, keep it up.

Also consider that "colonial" means when what is the US was a colony of the British Empire. 1820 is not colonial it may be Antebellum.

Antebellum is the period between the Revolutionary war and the War of Northern Aggression. The term usually applies to Southern archetecture. You don't indicate where the house is so can't say if that applies or not.

8-) What an amazing location. Great finds man!

Go after those deep targets and keep us posted.

Your correct. Antebellum home. Can't give location for obvious reasons. Thanks for the comments.

Yup times have changed, Seems like everyone had a pocket knife then, Don't ever remember anyone getting cut(by someone else) either :dontknow:
