I have not been swinging (or posting) very much this year. New house is keeping me busy.....
I am building a stone wall and my wife and I go for rides "rock picking". On one of these rides Saturday afternoon we found a cellar hole that I was not aware of before. I had my Minelab with me and thought that I would give it a couple of swings. 10 minutes later I had a flat button and small hunk of lead.
Back home working on the wall I decided that I was going to get up Sunday morning and give the new spot a good search. The first hole I dug was the sun burst design Tombac button. The second hole was the 1834 Large Cent. Nothing good for the next hour.
I thought that the LC would clean up really nice. Not so, this one has the kind of green crud that the Peroxide and toothpick wont touch. I have thrown it in some olive oil to see what it will do. The button is something that I have wanted to dig for a while now. I have plenty of shiny Tombac buttons but this is my first with a design.
