Look at this crack going down the front. I didn't find this in the ground it was my dads coin

That's interesting looks like it was minted that way:thumbup:

Looks like a genuine die crack. The error collectors will like it.

Not only that it's in great shape.. I don't know how to grade coins or tell the value so i'm not sure what it's worth

Yeah, that's a great looking seated dime! The die crack adds some character, too. I'm no expert on this series, but judging from the low level of wear on the scroll and LIBERTY, I'd say this was at least XF-40. It's the large star variety and my book lists the value at around $120. Because of the overall eye appeal and the die crack, it could be worth considerably more to the right person. :icon_thumleft:

Some guy on here just offered me $20 for this dime what a slap in the face

Oh so if I offered $21 would that be a less of a slap in the face lol ;-)

That's not why I put this coin on here. Let me see some thing your dad left you when he past away and offer you less then half the value for it you shouldn't be such a joker.is that all this site was made for? all I wanted was some help on grading the coin not people trying to steal it what a joke, can I buy your coins for 25% of the value?

I offered $20. I based my price on Ebay sold listings. Several, with die cracks, have sold in the $20-$25 price range in the past few months. If I was trying to rip you off I would offer you melt like a pawn shop. Clearly there is sentimental value associated with this coin - and you could have made that clear when I asked you if you wanted to sell it. Nobody knew your father passed away so its a bit unfair to try and now guilt us about it. I am sorry to hear about your father, good luck with the coin.

I just looked on eBay and the only one going for $20 on there is VG/F with no die crack.. Stripythecrab said it was EX-40 look that up on cointrackers it says in poor condition it's worth $21 the dime looks better then poor to me. I wasn't trying to sell the coin I just wanted to share it and see what other people would say about it cuz I never seen one with a die crack like this if you find one on the net let me see it

Get it graded and put it in a holder and cherish it. On coins it's a hard road on selling them for what u want. Price ranges vary and just like anything you will have to find the right buyer. And this site has nothing to do with one persons opinion. You can't get hurt feelings over one persons words or evaluation on your item or you will never make it on here.

Im not going to get into an argument about it. There is a huge difference between book price and what things actually sell for. All I cod find on my phone was this listing: 1838 Seated Liberty Dime Nice VF Detail Error Die Crack Obverse from Rim to Leg | eBay

Ef with die crack under $40. I go by what things actually sell for, people can put any price they want on a coin doesnt mean they will get that price. Anyways, you could always counter offer a price you have in mind if you are looking to sell of course.

I understand that, I just wanted to share it show it off,not pawn it off . So I'm sorry I feel like it was a low ball offer . I don't want to argue over it at all and felt like you were trying to get a great deal off me since I don't know how to grade coins so I would like to put this fire out and just say sorry

No apology necessary. I also never offer up my best price first too....common negotiation tactic. I could go up, but IMO the coin is worth no where near what stripey quoted. Its all opinion, but I back my opi.ion with cash!

Yeah I get that too I've been around so I know how pickers work you should know not to make the offer first and if you have to cuz you want it that bad don't insult them on your offer or you won't make a deal the key is to make them feel comfortable . I know selling some thing is hard to get what you want I'm a buyer not a seller so maybe that's why we clashed I bet you wouldn't sell it for $20

I'm sorry I just took it the wrong way. Feel free to joke all you want

I'm a little tougher on grading. I'd give it a VF-30....I don't think it quite makes XF. Nice coin regardless.
