I'm a little tougher on grading. I'd give it a VF-30....I don't think it quite makes XF. Nice coin regardless.

Those were my thoughts as well. I thought it was a VF-30 to 35. The two online resources I use for grading don't have this exact coin to reference in those grades, but it more closely resembled a VF coin IMO. Low XF if you caught the grading company on a good day - but all the coins I have submitted lately have come back disappointing.

Have fun with it just offer the guys on eBay $10.. We all know this coin would sell for more then $20 if the economy didn't suck

Very nice find man.Good shape too!I dont know much about coins ,but if it was damaged, you definatly didn't do it.very very nice

nice coin... but the drama was excruciating.

As justin timberlake once said- cry me a river;)

Thanks hope you guys like the coin I'm sorry for the drama on this thread I only wanted to learn more about the die crack and if it was rare but all they keep babbling about is eBay look at this one with no die crack that dude should have went to eBay if he wanted to buy coins not try to take advantage of me cuz I don't know much about them people always trying to make a quick buck this guy must be a coin dealer

Omg stop crying. The coin isnt worth thousands or even hundreds. I made you a fair offer, if you dont want it move on. There is no scientific method to pricing a coin, alot of it comes down to opinion. In my opinion I wouldnt pay you more than $30 for it. If that hurts your feelings I'M SORRY! People buy and sell on here all the time and if you didnt want to sell you could have easily responded to my first email with "Not for sale" and saved the drama.

You didn't have to post on this thread and keep it going because I thought you were low on your $20 offer your opinion is for buying not selling of course you wouldn't pay more then 30 your looking for the best deals you can get

Kaleb, the coin is worth probably, $45 max. It has some minor issues, and it is absolutely not XF. I'd call it a VF35. Full retail (AKA the price you'll never get) is $55 or so. $20 was a bit low, but on eBay, you'd probably get $40 or so with free shipping... Shipping costs $2.50 with tracking, plus eBay fees at about $4, and you're looking at $32.50 net. I have zero interest in this coin, by the way, so I am not trying to rip you off. Just my independent observation.

I wouldn't sell it on eBay,but if a realistic price is 40 that's 50% more then 20, I want to get it graded so I know 100% what grade it is,no offense your all just looking at a picture I took with my phone it could be better or worse ,so who's to say the real price,it could be worth nothing, but to me this coin has more value then gold it was my dads just like I said in the first post I loved going through his coins asking about them and this coin was not just my dads but his dads also

I'm looking at a picture... and ya know what? I'm pretty good at looking at pictures and grading coins. If you want to waste $20 getting a $40 coin graded, knock yourself out. It's your money. I'd put it in a 2x2 and enjoy it for a few years until you are ready to acquire a nicer example.

I understand that the coin has sentimental value to it, but you really need to keep calm and not get upset about somebody making an offer on the coin. $20 is $15 more than most dealers would probably give you for that coin. It comes off as tremendously immature to rag on somebody who made an honest offer on it.

I wasn't being a jurk about it, all I was saying is my flash wasn't on and a camera would do a better job then the phone I said no offense lol.. the offer was just low that's my opinion I should be able to have one I'm not bashing him just the price that was put on it at $20 you even said it would sell for more your self ,so it really wasn't a honest offer seeming how you think it would bring 40 or so on eBay

You're not supposed to take pics of coins with flash on, so your images are fine. You clearly don't understand negotiation, one person makes an offer, it is countered, and so on until an agreement is reached. Outright rejecting an initial offer and then trashing the person who made the offer is poor form in more ways than one.

I know how negotiation works but I wasn't selling the coin and had no idea on value of the coin so I would first need to know about it to make it fair in the first place just look at it this way I didn't have it posted for sale got hit up as soon as I posted the coin I didn't force him to show up on here after I said no to the offer so no body would have ever known who made the offer that was between me and him till he posted on the thread I never declared a name

Why would anyone get bent out of shape on ANY offer? Even a laughable one. All you have to say is "no thanks". It's not as if you were bent over a barrel and had no choice in the matter....that would be a rip off. An offer you think is low, is just that, not an insult or a rip off, because nothing changed hands and no agreement was made. Just pass on it and move on. If it's not for sale, just say so. No reason to belittle someone because they don't have the same high opinion of what you think it's worth. You can end up eating crow doing that when you find out they're right and you're wrong. Take it from someone that has burped up some crow feathers in the past! :laughing7:

100% agree.

I posted that it was me who made the offer because I have nothing to hide from. You immediately shot down my opening offer of $20 because you saw another member who said they thought it was worth $140 and thought I was trying to rip you off. Come to find out most agree the coin's value is much closer to what I offered, and this is clearly where your defensiveness stems from. All I care about at this point is that you stop using the term dishonest and stop acting like I tried to pull one over on you. I buy/sell/trade on here frequently and don't need this crap, especially when it's over $10-$20.

Let it go. He said he is not selling. And this is not the place for that according to the rules of the site. Opinions welcome selling is not and lets keep the bickering out of it. 3rd time called in come in again it gets locked.

Nice coin Kaleb71386 !
I won't venture a guess on value.

as for someone offering to buy it, there is nothing in our rules that says members can't
offer to buy what they see.

or the members must sell what they post.

Please relax everyone !
