Dug this last weekend at a circa 1872 homesite. Anyone know what it might be? It measures ≈13.82 x 30.35mm

Can you brighten up the pictures a tad?
Please...:hello:

Cufflink?
Maybe? I've never had cufflinks so I'm not sure but seems like it might be a bit large for that. The back does feel like in the center there might have been a stud, but IDK for sure.

Oh, looks like you changed the size too. Yeah, 30mm might be a bit big for a cufflink. Maybe tie tack?

An old pinback button or single stud pinback maybe.

Well the size grew a tad suddenly :laughing7:
My silver cuff links measure 12.30-17.50
The brass ones are 9.71-15.74
So you're recovery seems too big for a cuff link
Liking it a lot though a top shelf recovery for sure. :headbang:

Is there a small hole near the left end of image #2?

Yeah, sorry guys, I had the size wrong originally When I uploaded the brighter photos I realized I had typed it wrong. I was just looking at a book my Dad has of Civil war relics (Sherman ordered this town to be burnt, so I figured it could be from the war), and while not in the book, I do think you may be right, that it is some type of pin or tie tack. Whatever it is, It's pretty darn cool. Thanks for your help!

I was thinking apt. or mailbox number but looks too fancy.

Yeah, my initial thought was perhaps that too, but kind of small for it too. The address of the location wasn't close either.
